Building Footprints were created from Illinois LiDAR data which was classified and included a separate class for buildings. The LiDAR used was acquired from 2012 to 2017.
Destined for DFIRMs. This site is intended for displaying hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) studies to eventually be incorporated into Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps.

Topographic Wetness Index shows areas with increased accumulated runoff potential, and areas with low slope and large upslope contributing areas within selected Illinois counties.

Naturally Illinois Expo

Some years, Institute scientists throw open the doors and invite everyone (school children, families, the general public) to come see, interact, touch, and experience the wonder of our state's diverse natural and cultural resources and cutting edge sustainable technologies.

Students learn about flood mitigation at Naturally Illinois Expo

The expo includes approximately fifty exhibits, demonstrations, and hands-on activities of interest to the public, teachers, and students of all levels. Interact with scientists who work on cutting-edge research and solutions to water, energy, ecosystem, mineral resource, natural hazards, climate, cultural resource, and technology issues.
